Most netbooks are black or white, but the HP Mini 210 comes in black, silver, blue or red. Specifications recalls, however, most other models.

HP Mini 210 follows up the mini-computers ( netbooks ), which HP has launched its mini-series. The screen is 10.1 inches and has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. It should be possible to play movies in HD quality on the screen, and with an external Blu-ray player (sold separately) you can also play Blu-ray movies. HDMI port for connection to flat-screen TV is sadly lacking.

The processor is an Intel Celeron at 1.6 GHz and the internal memory of 1 GB expandable to 2 GB. The hard disk is in either 160 GB that spin at 5400 RPM or 250 GB at 7200 RPM. The graphics card is from Intel.

Among the ports are three USB2, VGA, Ethernet and combined mic or headphones.Wireless networks are so clearly inbyggdt, although the specifications do not describe the standard to which this is – probably 802.11b / g; Other internal features include memory card reader and webcam.

The cheapest model in the Mini 210 series features a 3-cell battery, and they have more expensive 6-cell batteries. Are you working with the computer on battery power, recommended six-cells. The price starts at 3290 kronor .

Review: Logitech C500 – nice affordable webcam

Logitech webcam C500 is a true ordinary model without any special features to be seen. But it delivers good quality and it has everything you might need a decent webcam.

A web camera is now almost standard equipment for the Internet user. Software as Skype, Windows Live Messengerand Logitech’s own case lets you conduct video calls for free over the Internet, and more and more into play their own video diaries and other videos to upload to YouTube.

Logitech has a wide range of web cameras in their range, where the C500 is a new model aimed at normal users. The camera has a sensor of 1.3 megapixels and a glass lens. It has a good stand that you use to attach the camera on your monitor. This should be suitable for all flat panel displays, as well as common on laptop computers. I tested a couple of different screens. A detail of the camera worth mentioning is the built-in lens cover that can be drawn down over the lens.

The installation of the camera went smoothly proceed. You can choose whether to install Logitech’s software at which you use to make video calls. This tool is good and easy to use, but it has the obvious disadvantage that there are as many users as compared to Skype and Messenger.

There are many different formats, ranging from 320 × 240 pixels to 2592 × 1944, and also allows you to record in widescreen up to 1280 x 720 pixels.

The quality of the picture is beyond expectation to be a webcam. Logitech has equipped the C500 with RightLight technology that automatically adjusts the brightness. There are lots of filters and effects that can be applied on the image for example, make the image grainy as an old movie, or to turn you into an animated space creature that follows your movements.

With one click you can upload your recorded videos to YouTube, which is certainly appreciated by all who have a video blog.

Logitech C500 is a mid-range camera that offers good quality for money. Looking for an affordable webcam that is doing its job properly, this is simply a good choice.

Silent Cube for long-term storage on hard drives

Hard drives are not particularly suitable for long term storage of data, because they tend to be torn up and broken. But Silent Cube is a technically interesting solution!

Philippe Starck designs for LaCie Hard Drives

The renowned designer Philippe Starck continues to cooperate with the LaCie, and comes with two new stylish and different external hard drives. LaCie Starck Desktop Hard Drive is an external 3.5-incher for placement on the desktop, while the Mobile Drive is small and portable.

LaCie, which produces external hard drives, today introduced two new models designed by Philippe Starck .Secondly it is a larger desktop model with a 3.5-inch hard drive in and for another, a portable disk of 2.5 inches. The former requires an external power supply while the portable hard drive requires a power from the USB port.

Starck LaCie Desktop Hard Drive comes with either 1TB or 2TB of storage (that is 1000 GB and 2000 GB). The smaller the LaCie Mobile Drive Strong E found in models 320GB and 500GB. The recommended target price starts at about 1300 crowns for the portable device and 1600 crowns for the DTU.

The drives have a touch-sensitive surface that you use to start as backup software.Both units have an aluminum case to withstand a little extra. It comes with software to take automatic backups.

Media Computer EeeBox PC EB1501 seats plus TV

EeeBox EB1501 PC is Asus’ new model in its EeeBox series – a small computer designed to be placed together with the TV or hembion, to be able to watch movies and digital photos, listen to music or browse through the TV Windows 7, DVD drive and HD are some of the features mentioned.

Shuttle, which is known to manufacture small desktop computers, has now presented its new project - Shuttle X500V. This is an all-in-a-computer where you have the entire PC mounted in the screen. Very cool!

Yawcam is a handy little program that will not only be used as monitoring tools can also be used to set up a Web server where people can look at your webcam.The program can also fill up images from the camera via FTP or save them anywhere on your local computer.

As regards monitoring functions, there are many options. You’ll find them under the Window / Motion Detection in the main program window. In the new window that pops up, there are three tabs to choose from – Motion Events, Actions, and Settings. In the first tab you can see a log of when the program has detected motion in the image that your webcam shows. Clicking on a current event, you check the time and date for this and you also see the picture as the program captured the moment.

Under Actions, you can choose what program to do when an event is detected. Here you can choose whether the application should save it as captured by the webcam on either your computer or on an FTP server. You can also set the program sends an e-mail to you, play a sound to the speakers and launches an external program.

Settings tab allows you to adjust the areas of the webcam image that program should look for moves in. You can also adjust how sensitive the motion sensor should be and how fast movements that the program will detect.

Once you have completed the setup you want, you have to place the camera in a handy location, like a little hidden. Since the USB cable to the webcams are rarely more than a few meters long can an idea be to obtain an extension cord so you can more easily place the camera where you want it.
